I am looking to put a snowplow on my 2007 3500 DRW. Is there any snowplow anyone recommends? I would like one that when winter is over I can take everything off easy without all the brackets showing underneath the truck.

 

Last year I put a 9'6" Western Vee on my 3500. It's a load , but after useing it I wouldn't have anything else. Really like the way a 10'000 lbs truck stacks snow! Did I say how great Western wings complament the vee? Pushing 11' wide!

 

Are you looking to remove the plow itself easily, or the mounting brackets to the truck frame after the season is over? Plowsite.com may provide more in depth info, there's even a Dodge specific forum there.

 

There are big debates over which plows are better and I don't think that it is possible to prove that one of the top brands is better than any other. I have used exclusively fisher and boss plows and have had quite good luck with them.

I think that you should start by giving us some more in depth specs. What are you planning to plow? How often will you plow? Are you willing to put a lot of weight in the bed? Any budget constraints?

Most plow mounts are made to be installed on the truck and left on. I do not know of any that I would consider easy to remove. The only disadvantage that I know of to not taking the mount off is that you have slightly reduced ground clearance up front.

What is your location ? You will need at least a 9 foot plow to cover your tracks on the dually. Pick a local dealer that has good support and pick whatever brand you like..

 

If it is just your driveway and a parking lot, I would opt for a relatively simple setup using a straight blade. I would do the narrowest straight blade that covers your track width since maneuvering a big blade in a driveway and parking spaces isn't easy. The other thing that I would do is put a lot of weight in the bed. Dually's have very poor pressure on the road so they don't bite down well. If you put 1000lbs of sand over the rear axle, it will handle a lot better and you will have sand for when you get stuck.

I am sure that you have thought about this but for anyone thinking about plowing, think carefully about it. It is extremely expensive due to the purchase price of the plow, maintenance, fuel, maintenance on the truck (your front end will wear out very quickly), towing for when you get stuck in the ditch, commercial plowing insurance, and the lack of sleep. Nothing beats being able to plow your own stuff but it is not cheap and sooner or later you are going to hit something or get stuck.
