Single rear wheels on dually axle???

Can you run just two back tires instead of four? I was thinking about taking off the two inside tires and am not sure if that will cause any problems. If im going to haul heavy I will, of course, put them back on. What do yall think?

We "single em out" all the time on big trucks. In fact, to save money on tires I guess, the truck at the CDL place I took my test in was singled out. During my pre-trip I noted to the guy that he was missing 4 tires, he laughed...and I failed anyways...

I've also seen one guy in town with a super single setup on his dually, One huge wide mudder in the back. Looked pretty good, seems like it would be tough though to match up heights if in 4wd.

I've seen people remove the outside duals in the winter.

Looks a bit like a "fixed" dog, but it does apparently improve traction when not hauling.

Im going to remove the inside tires to keep the "stance" right. I want to see if it does anything for the mileage too. Also, the inside tires seem to be wearing a bit faster on the edges.

I saw a guy with a regular sized tire on the outside, and a very small inside tire. Looked like a spare donut back there. Was like that on both sides. I woulda been embarrassed to drive it. No idea why.

I never noticed any mileage difference in mine running just one set of tires out back. Hows your air pressure across the back end?
