Well I have the day of from my reg. Job so I decided to do some grading for a friend of mine that I promised I while ago. I had my mini excavator loaded up. trailer and excavator weigh roughly 13k. I pulled up to get fuel and who pulls up beside me????? A lady in a freakin prius. And from what I gathered from all her "stop global warming" bumper stickers...I new I might be in trouble. So I was pumping fuel. Minding my own business. She walks up to me. Asked me."Is that your truck" and said yes mam it is. She said "well I hope you sleep good at night knowing your partly responsible for all of our environmental issues the world is facing right now" and she followed with "why don't you get a prius like me and help save our environment" and I kindly replied with "well the last prius I owned had a pretty hard time pulling 13k ibs." I was trying to be as nice as I could but she was really ticking me off. But wait..it gets better. She continued with a few choice words and then got my plate number and said she was gonna turn me in? Who is she gonna turn me in to? BoBo? It was a great way to start off my morning. I hope yalls day goes better. and as much as I hate to say it..we may be shooting our selves in the foot here. Always goin around blowin smoke. Racing light to light. Don't get me wrong I like to have fun just like the next guy, but I truly believe there's a time and a place for it. And when you do it at the wrong time and the wrong place..its sends a bad message and frankly makes us look bad. Just something to think about. Have a good day guys.

 

I've learned the best way to get back at people like that is just to start laughing at them and don't stop until they storm off. You did good and held your cool so my hats off to ya and I agree...there's a time and place for blowing smoke.

I had one of those folks come up to me spewing the same platitudes while I was filling up my boat (26'cuddy).
I told him I was glad he was saving fuel because It will leave more for me. He dropped his sholders and walked away. I have no time for for ill informed folks like that. The Prius that saved the world geeeezzz .

I've had one person do the same thing to me. I asked them what their carbon footprint was for the creation and disposal of their "wonderful" battery was. They did not know. These are the same people who are grateful for when I pull their prius out of the snowbank.

Like the other day when a prius came zooming up behind me on the freeway and I couldn't see it in any of my mirrors unless I moved to the left...to line my tail pipe up on their datum line...gave a small burb...ya I know, turbo lag....

 

It goes both ways.
I've run into people who think it's ok and their right to dump waste oil in the creek that flows though their property and shoot every living creature that wanders though.

There are extremists in both camps, just got to find a balance but it's getting hard to do anymore when people only choose which news media they watch if it agrees with their views and demonizes the other side.

 

Well said. And, either way, self righteous rudeness from either side is never useful for much more than making people mad. Most folks just pick and choose the "facts" or examples that support their own bias.

I love the prius people wo swerve outta the way to avoid the "black fog" . . . it makes me giggle.... yeah there is a time and place for it, but i must admit, it sure feels good to BLACK out a tree hugger

 

We have a VW Bus in town here with an "Earth First" sticker on it and a few other tree squeezer stickers. It belches blue smoke like a chimney and smells pretty rich. I just smile every time I see it.
