General Diesel Discussion Talk about general diesel engines (theory, etc.) If it's about diesel, and it doesn't fit anywhere else, then put it right in here.

last summer i was inbetween mt. hood and warm springs res. which is 100 miles of desert and had a guy flag me down with a two month old dodge ctd all locked up and running with a brand new aluminum fishing boat on back. his cell phone was in the pickup and he was a portland police officer on vacation. ended up calling a lock smith. i gave him some water and after a half hour i left.

You mentioned an accident! If the Ford was involved, then what's the point of this thread? If not, then why the long story about the accident?

I put that in quotes because here in town 99% of the time a big O' back up in traffic is some type of wreck.... I thought it was a wreck...... as I got closer it was not a wreck it was just the ford truck sitting there with its trailer. There was not wreck there was just an issue with the truck

I was just making a point that it was broken and a bad day for the ford guys in front of a million on lookers.....

Ferd has one thing going for them.....extra bells and whistles. It would be nice if Dodge would add few of those features to their trucks or at least make them available. I'll have to live w/o those creature comforts in order to have a reliable diesel truck, because the words reliable & ferd/powerstroke don't go hand in hand.

Boy I would sure like to have that front tractor. I've always wanted a 276 or a 9030 or one of those TV's.

You're kidding right. I love my truck and the Cummins but they are far from perfect. Anyone ever heard of KDP's. Lift pump failure's. VP44 failure's. I notice that there are plenty of issues in the tecnical forum's. Even with the 12 valve's. I think that Ford screwed up when they went to the 6.0, the 7.3's where pretty good engines. I like the I-6's because they are beefier and have fewer moving parts, but they still have always had some problems. OK, I am putting on the flame suit.

Did cummins have use the VP-44 in the other versions of the b series 5.9 and do they have the same problems or is it just a dodge thing?
