reregister gross weight

Alrighty, What would all be involved in getting the truck recertified at a diffrent weight rating? Stupid i know but my 5th wheel i bought is over the gross rating for the 2500, pulls like a dream, just dont need to get a ticket for this someday. If i put on a set of true duals ( new axle/hubs) air springs would that take care of it? And where would i take it to get recertified?

As of now im not 100% worried about brakes and what not as 1 my truck stops the trailer fine ( it has brakes as well) and 2 from what ive understood the 3500s and 2500s have the same brakes anyway

What are the weights that you are talking about? Generally with a fifth wheel the GVW is not a factor, just the GCWR. Make sure the plates will cover the weight and that the tires are not overloaded. You should be ok, but better put the weights in here. What is the hitch weight?

You should be in with that weight, with no problem.

I tow a 5er with a weight of 14,100 and the main thing you have to worry about is the hitch weight. The GCWR will not be a problem at your weight even for the 2500. The main reason I bought the 3500 was we are thinking of buying a slide in, soon. Want to go back camping where and when I want. We're fixing to leave on a trip to Wa. and my daughter is treating us to a cruise to AK. So we're going by the Big Foot factory to see. Maybe come home with something else.
