I meant to say, "Rear ENGINE dragster" not "Rear END dragster."

Hi there-
My name's Dustin Bentz, and I am the driver of the Cummins Dragster. I appreciate the compliments you guys have given us, and if any of you guys ever have a question or anything, please feel free to PM me. I'll answer anything to the best of my knowledge and if I don't, I'll ask my dad (the one who built the car). We've got big plans for this year, as we did last year, but as of right now the engine's on the dyno ready to roll. We're gonna try a lot of different turbo configurations as we weren't getting the boost we want/need. Also running at 5800' in Denver is a little tough. I'm sure the car would run wonderful at Sea Level. Please keep checking the website and once again, if you have questions or comments please don't hesitate to hollar. Hope to see you guys at a race sometime.
Take it easy.
Dustin Bentz

Man, once you guys figure out the set-up you're gonna have one of the meanest machines out there! I say that because you were tearing up a lot of parts that have been used in alcohol dragsters very successfully. There's a whole lot of potential there waiting to be unlocked. AND I'm tired of people saying diesel engines are too slow! Ya just gotta have the right stuff!

Little Engine??

Hey-
It's amazing that guys are getting so much out of a little 360 cube engine. When we tell people at the track how little c.i it is and then how much it weighs, it just floors people. Trust me, I am a full-fledged believer that diesels are super fast. So far, our best time has been a 9.30 in the 1/4 mile at about 139. Our 60' times have been in the low 1.2's. And with that, we're only getting 45 lbs. of boost. The last half of the track, it is just choking itself to death. The first half of the track is the best because it pulls so good. It pulls better than our injected small-block we had before the diesel. That ran 9.0's. But, yeah if we could just get the back half of the track figured out, holy cow that car would run. And that's the whole point of the dyno testing. We've got to figure out why the turbos are choking and find an optimal turbo match. We have some of the biggest turbos in our garage that I have ever seen. Probably bigger than anyone has even conceived of trying. Guaranteed people will think we're crazy, if they don't already. Well, I'll quit rambling. Take it easy.

Good update, son.

For those of you going for max HP, keep an eye on your turbo drive pressure. We have learned a lot about turbos in the last few weeks, and with the differences in elevation, it changes. We are rigging in some external wastegates (2) on the twins, and working on some mongo turbos.

Check out the latest photos on our web.
