Racing a 05 Hemi

my best friend has a 05 hemi ext. cab 17" rims auto and 3.42 or whatever the hiway gears are. my truck is in sig. If I dont build boost and she dont spin the tires, she gets me off the line bad, but once the turbo comes on I leave her in the dust. You should have no probs if you dont spin your tires.
one of my subcontractors had a 2500 hemi for about two years
he traded his truck for a cummins after driving my 05
i haven't raced one but i am reasonably sure my stocker would outrun a stock hemi

Well my 2003 QC 4X4 1500 Hemi would run best around 15.6s 1/4 with air intake and exhaust mods.
That is faster than a 2500 QC 4X4 Cummins stock.
But with just about any good box/downloader, air intake and exhaust the Cummins will do a little better than that.

I've ridden in them and I was expecting it to pin my ears back because of all the hype of how mean they are and I wasn't impressed at all. That Chevrolet 1/2 4x4 with the vortec max 345hp 6.0(same power as hemi) will walk all over a hemi. The odd's are in the hemi's favor since they have a 5-spd auto and 3.92 gears in them. I just don't see what all the hype is about when it comes to those hemi trucks. Anyway, back on subject, you won't have any problems leaving him in the smoke.

In truck tune, the Hemis are somewhat lackluster.
In 6.1L SRT8 trim, though, this is NOT the case

So race a truck Hemi and eat him up.
Stay away from anything SRT-- even a little SRT4 Neon or Caliber, as they will destroy most mildly (even not so mildly) tuned diesels.
Forget an SRT8 unless you got a big stick-- twins, etc w/ lotsa fuel.

I just went out and installed an adjustable boost elbow in the truck. Then I took it for a test drive and ran the guts out of it. Off the line its OK, but man, once it hits third gear,
! I can't believe how hard the truck pulls after about 40 mph, it seems like it just gets stronger and stronger. The fastest I've run it since the injectors is about 90, but it sure got there quick. I've got the boost set to about 30 psi now, seems about right. It was zooming up to 34 or so before, too high. If I've got enough room to run, I think that hemi might get spanked after all. Gotta catch up and pass him though, but I'm looking forward to it!

I traded a '04 Hemi Q/C 4x2 on my '06 CTD Q/C 4x4. Biggest differences between the trucks are 4x4, long bed, and CTD (obviously) on the '06.
The Hemi ran very well for a Q/C truck. I would never tell anyone dont get one for a daily driver. However, with just the BDTP the CTD is quite a bit quicker than the Hemi. It would take a lot to get the Hemi into the 14s. With a press of a button, the CTD is there.
THANKS BULLY DOG!

Yeah, that guy likes to talk about his truck on every forum that will listen. He is NOT racing a loaded Q/C. Your talking about a 1000# weight difference between his his truck weighs and a 1500 Q/C.
As for the Cummins running 12s, just look at the timeslip list on this site. It shows you what it takes.

i got beat by one of those SRT4's but i could have had him but ran out of road and hadn't locked in OD yet, i was like holly cow that thing is fast. told the guys at work and they told me about them. WOW fast little car.
Yeh, stay away from those guys with SRT Neons. But they're not that bad if you know what they are and are prepared. I've beat everyone (3total) I came up against, but I knew it was possible they were quick, and maybe a few mods, so I didn't mess around. I bult boost and did a full on launch the best I could on the street. Funniest SRT kill to date though was the guy in a Ram SRT-10 reg. cab. From stoplight to my 110mph cut off, had him the whole way and 2lengths at the end.
Whats good about racing on the street is these SRT's vettes etc... cant hook up at all, throw it in 4wd and watch them &#$% themselves. We take my brothers F-350 CC DRW out and nail them all the time A 12 second track car turns into a 13.5 real quick while that 12.5 truck doesnt change much. I love diesels lol
Street Racing is for the Fast & Furious winged crowd.
Take it to the track, line up on the tree, or chain it to a sled, and see where the chips/turbos/injectors/whatever fall.
