Purging air from fuel system
Purging air from fuel system
My lift pump has been relocated to the rear near the tank. If I replace the lift pump with a new one and its free of fuel, what procedure should I use to get rid of the air.
Is the new pump going to be run through the stock filter? If so I would start by cracking the bleed screw and bumping the starter. If the new pump is wired through the wiring harness then is will run for a while. Once fuel starts coming out close the bleed screw and try starting. If it doesn't start then you will have to crack the injector lines. Some say to only crack 3 at a time but I have never had any luck with that, I just crack them all. It is harder to get them all closed, but atleast you know that the air is out. It will run ruff until you get all of the lines closed and then it should smooth out.
I am sure this will get alot of slack. but what we do at work is loosen the fws top and take an air hose and blow into your vent line sloooowly until it starts filling the fws.Once you have it running you can release the fuel cap to release any pressure.I know we dont have any trouble, not sure if it will work on our system, although it should. Just my .02

I have to replace a HUGE fuel filter here in a few days that is located back by my tank, and I haven't figured out how I am going to do it. I was hoping I could just bump the starter and it would fill the filter up with fuel and then start up...
The system is entirely replaced from the VP44 back to the tank (no stock filter housing, no stock lift pump).
