So which is the lessor of the 2 evils do you figure? The Powerstroke or the Duramax? I am sick of my little ext cab and the new 'crewcab' from Dodge is a joke. I tried going home with my 3 dogs, girlfriend and our bags this holiday and it was unbearable. Ended up taking her Toyota instead So I figure its time to ditch the Dodge and get a rig with a real cab as the Dodge just won't cut it anymore. Its a sad day for me as I figure I won't have the best motor anymore, but will get a better truck as I never really liked the dodge that much, just the motor Oh yah, for sale, BOMBed 02 CTD :'(

You've got a roll-top. <br><br>Seriously though, the new quad cabs aren't all that much short of space in comparison to the Ferd. I gotta agree with push Rod. I would put the dogs in the bed or the bags and let the hounds ride in the back of the cab. If you are worried about the rain or something getting to the bags get a cover for the bed. If your really want a crewcab atleast look at the dodges. Then if your are still unhappy with your truck and the crewcab dodges buy what ever makes you happy. Your money right? I am not really sure which of the two diesel engines are better. I would say do lot of research on the powerstroke and Duramax diesel site. And please keep us informed of what you find on the other sites and what happens with you and your truck. Hey Rod<br>I am just sick of the lack of space in my ride. I almost bought an H2 the other day but 12 MPG ...no thanks as I drive 40K a year. I got a quote of like 17K CDN to make it a true crew cab but that seems like a waste of $$ as I could have a brand new truck and BOMB it for that much. So I am going to ditch this truck and buy ???. Something with more space for my dogs and me (the dogs would be popsicles in the -30 weather we get), power to pull the sleds/quads around, and decent milage. I traded a buddy my truck for his 02 crewcab DM for a couple of days. It was kinda carlike and kinda slow. When we traded back he said holy s*** your truck is fast and I even had the comp turned off on him Sure will miss this truck :'(

 

Cold Diesel sounds to me that you are a candidate for a PSD Excursion, a truck is not versatile enough for you. Possibility #2 is put a topper on your truck and install a heater/AC unit in the bed, custom fit a horse trailer matt in it to stop frost draw in the steel. Puppy's will be just fine and more room for all of you, save $$$$$$$$$$ this way.

My nieces husband<br>owned that one. The second Duramax is owned<br>by a friend of ours who races ATV's with my son.<br>His Duramax began smoking blue real bad and shortly<br>after taking it back to the dealer they found water<br>in the oil!! Chevrolet ended up putting a brand new<br>engine in his truck!! <br><br>The older 7.3 Ford PSD's seem to hold up pretty<br>well. They can be BOMBED pretty good, although<br>it will cost more than on a Dodge. Cold Diesel: It is to bad you got rid of the Cummins. I have an extended cab and it gets crouded with my three dogs, my two grand kids and my wife. We are going to wait for a real 4 door for grand maw with an auto may be an 04. But I am with you the dogs ride up front.

Hi buddy....sorry to hear you're getting rid of your truck. Make sure to sell it to someone who will treat it right though! <br><br>If I was in your position I think I'd look for a 7.3 Excursion.....IMO the 6.0 is gonna be a handful for the first little bit. I think John_P and I probably read the same thing about the injector troubles they were supposedly having that delayed production-and that some units supposedly were shipped out anyways to get things rolling....not good. I wouldn't be screaming keen to get a CR Dodge the 1st year either-let somebody else (like good old Push Rod there!) find the weak points before I drop my hard-earned cash. <br><br>Not sure if you can get a D/A Suburban or Tahoe yet-it would be last on my list anyways as I flat out refuse to own anything built by the General. To be honest it would take an act of God for me to buy the Ford either-I am a diehard Dodge guy, the Cummins just came along as an added bonus.....But if you're serious about swapping the Ford is probably the lesser of 2 evils.......besides which it'll give Tim somebody to hang with at ABC functions! <br><br>My opinions anyways-take them as you will!<br><br>Jason<br>

 

cold, dont forget to pick up spare cam sensors with new perd or you will really be cold, i know several 02 perd owners with failed cam sensors ? good luck :P 8) :P :'( :'(

 

ah yet another to the dark side :'( :'( . If I was in your position I would just try to work something out with your truck. The chevy has got the dm of course which isnt that bad but the ride is terrible in these trucks, even the 2wds. I think gm is thinking about putting a duramax in the tahoe and the h2 soon but those may just be other rumors. As to fords I dont even look at them anymore. Those darn trucks have gave me so many problems I will never own another again. <br>Just my .02
