Painting wheels??? Advice please
I have steel wheels under my beauty rings, And I am wanting to with with black trim on my truck. Just curious if anyone has ever heard of painting the wheels for a cheap ext. upgrade. I figured if it turned out bad just throw the beauty rings back over em. Any help would be great, thanks

Just give them a good soap and water scrub, then a degreasing with a solvent, then a steel wool scuff. Blow them off and mask the tires. Then a couple coats of rustoleum.
They'll look good for years.

painted wheels
Mine has the basic steel wheels. I rotate in the spare so I use all 5 wheels and Dodge saved 15 cents by not painting the spare wheel gray like the other 4 wheels. My son and I decided we liked the looks of the black spare, so I painted 4 wheels black instead of painting one silver. I used regular rattle can gloss black I got from Agri-Supply. Worked like a charm.
One note, the gray hub caps just didn't work with the red truck and black wheels, so I painted them International Red. I've gotten several comments on my red hub caps, mostly admiring.
If I could figure out to how to post pics, I would show them off.

Thanks for the input, I saw a truck pick on here with black steel wheels ( looked to be stock ) other than paint. it looked sharp, and i think for 10 +- bucks its well worth it
