overhaul

Just out of curiousity. whats an approxamation to overhaul a 24 v?

if you do the labor (take it out, take it apart, end put it back togather ) the parts and machine work will be about 5000.00 give or take a couple of grand depending on how bad it is and to what level you want togo since its out in your lap anyway

I can't imagine that very many 5.9's in Dodge pickups will ever get overhauled. A junkyard replacement engine would probably make more sense than doing an out-of-frame overhaul, especially since the rest of the truck, assuming the engine made it to a normal overhaul mileage, will be at the point at which it's seen better days.

Non-sleeved diesels just don't lend themselves very well to being overhauled. They need machining that a wet-sleeved engine doesn't and to do that, the block must be removed from the vehicle, and that contributes a lot to the cost.
