oil leak
looked under a truck i'm about to buy and see oil, no worry as what engine doesn't but things seemed coated pretty good, maybe even drip...........i've heard stories like "what diesel doesn't, they all do blah blah blah".........so, 2000 Cummins 50k miles
do you leak? how much?

where was the oil? around the breather hose? Below the vacuum pump??? where did it look like it was coming from?? Definitely something to check out before you buy.
Yes Cummins engines are known to slobber some oil here and there.

I just fixed my oil leak on the vaccum pump. I had to get a rebuilt pump because the seal kit I got didn't work. It was a constant drip. This could be the problem. I would definately narrow it down before I bought it, if I did buy it.
Make sure that this is the problem. The vaccum pump can leak and it looks like the breather at first. Look at the shaft between the two pumps, if it is wet the this is the source. Also make sure that it isn't a bad seal somewhere else.
