The info is good for general comparisons, but the webpage was last updated in 2000.

While I've learned enough in my short time here at DTR to stay away from Fram filters on our CTD's, I'm pretty sure that in all of my oil changing years, I've used Fram more than any other. Man, what was I thinking!!!

I was telling my uncle about how Dodge would actually void the warranty for using a Fram filter, he said he just paid like $8 for his Fram. I have a Stratopore in right now, but since I just bought a Frantz TP filter I'll probably pick up some Wix filters from here. as it will already getting filtered really well anyways.

I pay about $10.00 for Fleetguard Stratapore from a large truck dealer.

You'll love that Frantz filter unit. I change out the TP roll every 3,000 miles, and the canister will have a good 1/16" layer of soot in the top of it. That much less soot in the oil.

If you're going to go mail order check here for Fleetguard filters.

Fram changed their filter components since the issue with clogging cooling nozzles. They no longer use a neoprene product to seal the filter, hence, DC and Fram say they are good to use in our applications.

What kind of "element" have you found to work best? I thought I heard something like Scotty 1000, then take off around 20 sheets and stuff it in the container.

When I was messing with Frantz filters long ago, (even lived in the town where they made them for a while) they recommeded you use the coarsest paper you could find. Such as for commercial use. It has something to do with the rolls being wound tighter and less air spaces for the oil to go through without going through the paper.

I use scott 1000. I roll off about 50 turns and then I test fit the roll. I am thinking of adding some o rings to the center post to improve sealing.
