Talking New 'family' member

Well, I've been dreaming of owning one of these machines since I was 13 and now I've got one...kind of. I bought this for my mom 'cause my house won't be built till at least next year, so my farmall super A will do up there for now. She needed a mower, I didn't, but I HAD to justify it somehow. This pic is basically right off the dealers trailer(got a little dirt on the blade already...). It's got a 60'' shaft-driven deck as well. Much TLC is needed, but it's all there and everything works well. Mowed my moms 2.5 acres this morning without a hitch...and ohhh, the hum of that little yanmar diesel.mmmmmm Now If I could just find a 4bt and maybe an HY-9.....

I flipped the tires to the wide setting for stability on the front hill of my mom's place, only to find out that the tires are weighted--nearly bowled me over when I took the first one off! I'd say the rears weigh about 175 a peice. Hit the diff lock with your right heel and she's a pullin machine Is it just me, or do you fellas see a 3'' stack in the future?

The 318 is the absolute perfect picture of what a lawn&garden tractor should be, imho. Just about every grooming and landscape company worth it's weight in meatballs has at one time or another had a 318, or even a fleet of them! As for the 430, well, the thing is just a monster The pic doesn't do it justice...it's just got a presence where you're near it. Almost 60'' wide at the back tires! It's got a yanmar injection pump--it looks to be inline, like half a p-pump. Fires up just like a 12 valve---barely a crank of the starter, a black puff and you're off When I can find mom a 420 (gas version of the same tractor, only without the long snout) I'll, ahem, aquire the 430 and then the bombing begins, starting with a turnout stack, hehehe
