I lucked out and found a brand new 06 Jetta TDI 6 speed auto. Flew to Denver to pick her up Saturday. And the first 1060 miles averaged 41.2 mpg!!
I wonder what kind of milage you can get driving the speed limit ?

Their are no 07 TDI's. VW kept making the 06's to the first of the year And kept calling them 06

 

make sure you use the correct oil those pd's are very picky in that department

 

AS of right now I have no Idea what kind to run in it I have lots of research to do

By the way, getting 50 plus out of my MKIV jetta. That's what 65mph will do for you. You should be able to get high 40's out of yours.

 

I had a guy in one (unknown year) with an auto tell me he's getting 44 mpg running around indy with it. . . .. He was admiring my truck for what it will haul.

 

BuckshotMckee is a service writer for VW so send him some ???'s, he's very helpful. The best mpg's I've seen are 51 running 55mph. I normally turn out 47-49mpg's.

That's an '01 TDI. The best I've had out of my '06 TDI is 41.x runnung 75mph, but have not had the chance to run 500miles on a tank at freeway speeds to check mpg. I am confident I could pull 42-43 out of it.

My '06 TDI MT running 65 (ish) gets 46-48.
45K on it.

 

Last article I saw put the new diesel Jetta coming out some time in spring 08!

It will have all the new emission stuff like the trucks.

Can't wait. Going to trade in the wifes Passat on one probably!

my mom's 5 speed 06tdi gets 51 at 80!! what i learned is once hills get thrown in the mix it kills the milage.

 

Really? If you take your foot off the go fast pedal it completely de-fuels on down hills if your in gear. The wheels keep the engine spinning over.
