They should change it to "more torque than Ford in three out of five gears, but less than Dodge across the board"

That'll sell some trucks!

I saw that too a few weeks ago. I meant to make a post about it but I forgot.

The commercial made me chuckle. It seems very empty after they say "More torque than Ford." ... the voice-over just stops after that.

IDK, when you do catch a properly running 6.0 psd, they are demon fast. My buddy matt, (MY vet) was one of the lucky ones on the psd side. It was even fast when it was stock! He's got a AEM intake, 5 inch turbo back exhaust, Banks Elbow, Big Hoss power kit, gauges, B-D brake, and other goodies. Truck is a flat out speed devil.

this is true. If i wasnt such a dodge freak. I may own a V8 diesel. Being i dont pull very heavy. If i did. Id make sure to keep the cummins. I do have the best of all worlds in my eyes. If i ever want to go back to v8 itll be a diesel over the gas tghats for sure

Im also a lil stuck on which id buy duramax or PSD. Id much rather have a chevy than ford all around. except in the front suspension department. That alone might make me consider the psd who knows. Did see a really nice king ranch the other day. Now why cant my dodge have that nice of interior

anyone serious about buying a new diesel truck should not be swayed by that commerical.

i saw a titan ad in a magazine. the titan was pulling a boat past a ram pulling an enclosed trailer. the ram had towing mirrors... are those available on a 1500 it looked like it sat higher and appeared to be a 2500.

I just saw a magazine ad for a 2005 chevy duramax...and it listed it at 605 ft-lbs which is 5 more than the dodge "600" motor...

It even had the typical chevy quote... "most available torque in its class"

i guess dodge is gonna have to go to the ECM and unlock 10 more HP to take its title back

Ford has a commercial running right now that says "class leading horsepower" for the 6.0. Chevy gas a gasser commercial that says " the most STANDARD horsepower in it's class". It's all word games.

gotcha. at any rate i wouldn't tow anything serious with the titan nor would i with a hemi ram. the boat appeared to be near the 9500lb limit.

the 2005 ram has 610 ft/lbs. the torque wars have to end somewhere. in case any DC execs are reading, try this one: 2005 ram heavy duty: powered by a real diesel since 1989. grab life by the horns!

as i said, serious consumers should not be swayed by such foolish advertising. chevy doesn't mention the duramax is detuned when equipped with the 6 speed

Yes, I have heard not one thing good about the 6 speeds.. More over its their ingenious dual mass flywheel that is the real stinker..

Chevy, made for automatics..

Whatever

DC seriously screwed my Father on his UNBOMBED CTD on a VP44 when the lift pump died at 159,000 KMS.
The turbo also failed
Clutch was warrantied from the frictions flying off while towing at 60,000 KMS
let me see... it had also eaten up 5 trackbars, 5 complete sets of moog balljoints and I have installed a DSS on the front end, and am considering a lukes link or 03 trackbar to fix this time.

So laugh all you want about the DMX, keep your 'knowledge' about the motor as you see fit... we know your experience in that area=0
Me, I have had a Cummins, love the motor! but the rest is questionable. If a Solid Axle is sooo much better for durability, why is the dodge front end so hungry for ball joints and trackbars? Granted our IFS tie rods are nothing to write home about, BUT my balljoints are fine.
We both tow frequently and heavily (farm use, hotshot, etc) and to say the DMX is not up to the task is an outright fallicy that you should divest yourself of.
Both have their good points and bad.

Ya, we all know the Japanes can't design and build a good diesel motor.... we also said that of the first HONDA cars when they reached our shores.... now look what has taken the lead in cars... HONDA.... hmmm

What is wierd now is that the 'Foreign' Honda is built on AMERICAN soil as is the DMX!
FWIW, I would still rather work on a CTD than a DMX for acessing some parts (and hanging twin turbos) But to say it is junk.... really shows what you know of it.

The Duramax is built by Isuzu, about as Japanese diesel as they come, just FYI...
