The Duramax is built by Isuzu, about as Japanese diesel as they come, just FYI...

IE: The CTD foundry in Brazil or Mexico dies not a mexican or brazilian motor make... etc etc.
GJ,
Didn't want to ruffle your feathers...LOL... I am just not an auto fan, regardless of the manufacturer. So its not aimed just at the DMAX.
However it is funny that its one of the few Diesel engines that gets a higher TQ/HP rating with an auto than with a manual. Total opposite of the other makers.
And Yes the engineering (if you can call it that) of the Track bar etc you claimed is a problem. Also was the problem with the turning radius of the 97 chevies of what 2 blocks? Front CV boots? Front diff shift solenoids? In 97, getting 300 Hp out of a 6.5 was open heart surgery, not $250 for a fuel plate.
Some of the failures on the truck you mention are not typical, but would sway anyone who reads this. Yes the early VP44 had bad pumps.. but there are growing pains with any of them ( cough INJECTORS DMAX .... Cough couch LINER CAVITATIONFORD.......Crank sensor electronicsFORD.
If we could order what we wanted for a glider, then added the components we liked, we all would have different trucks.
The commercials IMHO seem to keep the already commited owners happy. It all sounds good.
