Neighbor poured gas in his '06
So I pulled up to my driveway tonight and noticed my neighbor had some friends over. We're all diesel heads. I got the Dodge (
), he's got a new lifted Ford PSD, his buddy a new Chevy Duramax and his other buddy with an '06 Dodge Ram CTD. So I see red gas containers on the driveway. I go over... I find out that his friend accidentally filled up with unleaded instead of diesel in the Dodge so they were draining all the fuel out. Turns out the truck was a rental. His own truck is a gasser, so I guess don't blame him too much for making a mistake. But the point here is, I doubt that injection pump is going to last very long, and some guy down the line is going to see a brand new CTD going in for service; giving Cummins a bad name in reliability.

One of my techs filled a PowerChoke with unleaded back in the 90's and drove it until it sounded like a $2 Briggs & Stratton from a tag sale... after draining and refilling - it ran for years.
I guess unleaded is much worse for the IP because of it's lack of lubricity; it resists pre-ignition much better than #2, so the engine itself probably won't be the weak link in running it.

I went to colorado with 300 miles on my new 03 PSD. They had a massive snow storm and we got stuck outside Denver.
Next morning I went to a BP and they were rationing 'gas'.
I said I need diesel and the guy filled me up with gas.
I siphoned out five 5gal cans and then filled with the right fuel and have never looked back. It has been bulletproof for 80k to date.
