On a VP equipped truck no box equals no go. The VP44 is an electrically controlled fuel injection pump. While it has mechanical parts they are all under electronic control. No box no go!!!

You can take the afc on the top and back off and slide the stock plate all the way forward. Is this a auto or stick truck. You have to be careful on the auto trucks as they ussually don't have much room for hp built into the allisons. It is intercooled which will help but the turbos on that motor aren't as effecient at high boost as the holset from what I've heard. I think they offer that motor up to 300 hp from the factory.

Correction for you: that model DT466 with that pump was only used between 1993 and 1995, the picture you have says it's a '95 and those are the cream-of-the-crop DT's!(like a '96-98 Dodge 12 valve 5 speed)
There's tons of things you can do to a 466. I'll agree with the plate grinding, it does wonders to the lower rpm's! Mine is a '94 and looks identical to yours. I did all the mods myself: ground fuel plate, AFC adjustment, advanced timing, and tighter gov springs. Guessing it at around 280-290hp. By the way, a Cummins 6BT gov spring kit will work in the DT series engines, just get the 3k kit & not the 4k . Scheids and Hypermax are the gurus of these engines, much like Piers is for the Cummins B crowd. You may run into the fact that sliding the fuel plate will only gain 30hp because of your injectors. The 210hp & up(if I remember right) used the same injectors but a different pump calibration. You got the weakest one(175hp). Time for some extrude honed injectors, twin turbos, and some new rear tires!

Take a look at the Bosch tag on the side of the pump. It should say "PES6P.....". If it does, then it is the same as a P7100 (I think). We have a Freightliner FL80 with the Cummins 8.3 that has a P7100 (PES6P).
