Not a bad idea, especially when it's icy out. Just the other day I hopped out of my truck onto the ice and ended up flat on my back

You will never regret it.

Diesel Storm, you will never regret getting a CTD. I am so please my first diesel pickup is powered by a CTD. My relative living a mile across the field bought a Dodge old style 199? regular cab 2wd pickup with a CTD and he said it is the first time he could haul his daughters' horses to horse shows without crawling up hills in low gear. My friend living in town was going to buy a used GMC with a Duramax, but he did not like the overheating problems they were having and did not know what to do except get another gasoline powered pickup. I told him to get a Dodge diesel, but he did not want to ride in a rough lumber wagon. I explained to him the difference between a V8 and an I-6 configuration engine, and he bought a 2wd 1996 club cab Dodge with the Cummins diesel. He is so grateful now that I talked him out of getting a V8 diesel. He pulls a heavy loaded trailer in the mountains in British Columbia and said the DOT inspectors there just look at the truck and because it is a Dodge diesel they waive him on.

Better be getting a fuel pressure guage, or you'll need a VP-44 for $2K installed.

Congrats on the truck. Treat it right, it will treat you right.

Would you elaborate on the fuel pressure gauge and the vp-44. I bought a new 2006, 3/4 ton quad cab 4x4 ctd, under 3000 miles on my truck and know very little about dodge and diesels

Congrats on your new truck and welcome to DTR! The VP44 injection pump is used on the 2nd generation 24 valve trucks. Yours is a 3rd gen and has the CP3 injection pump. Monitoring your fuel pressure is not as critical, but still nice to do if you can. Just start reading here....primarily on the 3rd gen boards and most of your questions will get answered in short order.
