Modify a stock airbox?

I was wondering if there is a way to improve the stock airbox untill I can afford a Scotty II?

Thanks,

I followed a modifacation from a earlier forum from late March.
Cut the bottom of the box out with a 4" hole saw and added a 90* elbow.
I did a search to try to find the forum but no luck.. The Forum had pictures and left little to screw up.. Mine went in flawlessly and works great. Good luck I hope the author chimes in with his thread.

Here's something I wrote several years ago on my cheap method, works great.
Sorry no pictures, but it's so simple none are really needed.

i just took a die grinder to the side of the box where the stock inlet is, coming from the fender. I just took the stock hole and enlarged it quite a bit It made the silencer ring effect ALOT BETTER. and as far as looking at it it looks stock, unless you start looking between the box and the fender where the boot used to be.

I found some previous post with pics and instructions but I noticed that most of these were from 03 and 04 trucks. Have the designs of these airboxes changed much since "00"?
