Mirror help quick!

I purchased a set of tow mirrors to put on my 97'. Well I have had them on my truck for a while but i have to keep them flipped down because they shake to much in the up position. Its not the whole mirror shaking just the glass vibrates. So tommorrow I am going to pull the glass piece out and tighten the keeper down so that the glass will not vibrate anymore. I know several people on the site have done this. What should i use to hold the keeper down where it will stay tight? Should i thread the plastic shaft and put a nut on it or should i just use some liquid nails to hold it? Does anyone have a procedure to get the glass out easily and efficiently? Any and all knowledge will be very greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Vance

I had a few Isuzu NPR's and NQR's where the big mirror panels vibrated at idle so badly I finally stopped at an auto parts place and got some black RTV. I cut the very tip off and ran a tiny bead right into the joint between the trim and glass. It ended the problem.

I was gonna suggeset using a wide putty knife to slip between the glass and backer plate to release the silicone that hold them in place dangit!

The nut threaded on fix is probably the best. I just presseed the tabs in a little on the stock star wheel and used a pair of channel locks to 'thread' it down onto the post. It didn't take much effort and they stayed in place til I replaced em. Luck
