Military Trucks

Just placed my bid on a 82 Kaiser Deuce and half 6x6 If I win the bidding war I will be swapping engine with a 2001 24 valve cummins somewhere around 500rwhp. I plan to restore it all back to original aside engine and some Dual chrome stacks. What do you guys think??

If that doesn't work out for you I have personally seen the 6-wheel millitary truck at threelakestruck.com in Northern Wisconsin. Except for the chassis, engine and cab being repainted red (??) it's in excellent shape. On the "truck page, about half way down.

Your project sounds awesome!

Just make sure the rest of the drivetrain can handle the power.

While on a convoy in Bosnia I personally snapped the driveshaft in 2 (in the middle not a U-joint) on a loaded 5-ton simply by pushing the GO pedal too hard.

If it's a military truck and you are going to restore it to military paint scheme, etc. chrome stacks would just look dumb in my opinion. Chrome and flat paint just don't go together..... but flat black stacks would be cool.

If 5 ton rockwells and drive shafts can't handle the power then I have no idea what will!.........2.5 ton Rockwells seem to put up with an insane amount of torque when properly built so I can just imagine how much jam a 5 ton will hold up to.........the only suggestion I would have is if the truck has 2.5 axles, you may want to make sure that the axle joints are Spicer/Rockwell u-joints instead of those goofy Rockwell/Timken joints (can't remember what they are called but they are not universal joints) that grenade easily and wear out quickly........I have heard of many guys swapping axle shafts to ones that accept u-joints because the Timken joint junk would blow up too easily and was not up to par with the rest of the axle..........I think companies like Military 6X6, Avalanche Engineering and Poison Spyder Customs can help with 2.5 ton axle shaft mods.

just my .02

That is what I was thinking those trucks have the strongest drivetrain on the planet gotta love those Rockwells. If I lose the bid I'll just try again this one is close to me about 10 miles away where most of them up for auction are in Texas and further east.

I'd use a bigger engine than a 5.9 liter. Those are HEAVY trucks!

Swap in a Cummins 8.3L. You can even bomb it!

An 8.3 under the hood and black stacks would definitely rock!

8.3 stock 300HP 900lbs tq, tweak it up and you'll pass up 500HP and be in class 8 Semi truck tq territory.
