Except it's not a Cummins...

Appears to be a DT466.

A little JB Weld and it'll be fine.

Negative, that's a European tractor.

Dave,
You might recognize that sled, he's from down in PA or MD somewhere, does the pull out to the Buck and all over PA, NE NJ, and a little bit into southern NY.

The story I heard is that tractor was from NY state somewhere.

My brother was at Bloomsburg Fair a few weeks ago and saw one of Sanders Mack's Silver Bullet II with a KTA Cummins in it explode like that.

Yep - IH either a DT 408 or DT 466.

Really unusual for that engine to do that.

They have to build up the hood structure to contain the engine in case something like this happens, looks like it worked.

A co-worker used to pull rigs like this, said some folks run cabling around outside the engine as an extra precaution.

My thoughts exactly although it's kinda hard for me to tell which end is which with these pics.

OK. You can tell in the last pic that the front is to the right and the cam is definitely on the wrong side. I wouldn't worry. Those tractor pulls guys are good. They can usually fix something like this while it's still running. Just ride on the side as it's rolling up to the sled again with a few wrenches in the back pocket. Yea. They're good.

Forget the JB Weld, just put some ratchet straps around it and all will be good.
