nothing pins you back in your seat like a high powered turbo diesel w/ a built automatic...

and if I was buying a brand new truck, I'd buy an auto.

but in the 1st and 2nd gen trucks, I'd get a manual. the resale value is a very good point on those trucks.

I will say, I've never had a manual tranny leave me stranded... but I've had a few autos leave me high and dry

I still drive my truck in town a lot and that's where having an auto is really convenient in my opinion, especially when not towing...On the other hand it is going to be the next thing that will need to be upgraded on my truck.

Manual all the way. They are easier to work on and in my personal opinion more reliable. Nothing like pullin and shiftin through gears. In heavy traffic i can be a bear but I mind it.

While I love my 6 spd when I tow, I gotta say, with the amount that I tow, I probably woulda rather had the auto. I love driving my dads auto dually 04 actually a little more than my 6 spd.. That being said, I do love my truck, but rowing through the gears in traffic gets old.

6 speed all the way. I wasnt going to get an auto. Took me a good few weeks to find one in california. lol but im glad i waited.
