Cool Made A $100.00 Today

I pulled out on the highway this morning to go to the local gas station down the road and had to blow a little smoke, pulled into the station and a guy asked what was wrong with my truck, nothing he asked why does it smoke so much, I said it is supposed to it has a few fuel mods on it. He said, my truck doesn't smoke like that, I asked what kind of truck do you have, he boldly replied I have a duramax diesel, I laughed, he said I have mods on my truck to but it still doesn't smoke like that, he said he had cold air intake and a straight exhaust, I said if it's not smokin it's not makin power, he said so what are you saying, I said for $100.00 i'll show you, he laughed and said what you want to race them I said you took the words right out of mouth. I left him looking for third gear, beat him by over 7 or 8 truck lengths and told him it looked like he needed to adjust is cold air intake, got my bill and left laughing

Take two identical stock 69 chargers with 440's in them. Put a bigger CFM carburator, over stock cam, headers, and change gearing in one of them. Gee I wonder which one would win.

If you would have told him what you had done to your truck I seriously doubt he would have raced. If he still would have raced then that would be some thing to brag about.

Yup, back in the 70's when I done alot of racing I never told anyone how much I had under the hood either, unless they asked. If they still ran me then they took the beating. If I ran a stock vehicle and won I sure didn't run around pounding my chest. What's to feel so proud about, beating a stocker with a modified vehicle. To me that would imply I couldn't beat him unless I was modified.

Had a friend with a more money than he knew what to do with.
He had an old Road Runner with a keith back hemi in it . Of course nobody would race him. So he would go to the other close by towns (Metropolis Il. being one of them) with a ground wire on 2 sparkplugs so it sounded like crap. After he would get somebody to race him, he would disable the ground ( a switch in the car) , rev the motor up to clean it out , then move up to the line and proceed to blow them away.

It was the only way people would race him.
