Mack Injector Lines

Hi, I have to change my leaking line or lines on my DM 300,and was wondering if there was a special socket that would help in removing and reinstalling the lines at the injector? It looks to be to close of quarters to get a wrench on them.I'm thinking crowfoot flare nut wrench right now, unless there is a better way. I will have more questions on this truck as time goes on,as I can't get much of a response on the Mack site TIA Joe

I took a box end wrench and cut a channel in the end of it that was just big enough to fit around the injector line, (like a line wrench), then I ground down the sections on the left and right of the cut just enough to make using it easier.

Good luck

Hey there bumpy, I always use just a regular open end Flank Drive Plus Snapon wrench on them. You just got to get at them the best way you can. I do suggest removing the dog house for the 5 and 6 lines but I bet you already know that!

Hi eater,is it possible to change these out without taking the air cleaner ducting apart? I'm new at this whole Mack thing and any advice is welcome. Thanks again!

Snap-On (and probably the other specialty tool mfg's) make a special injector socket for this.

What he said up above! Take the air cleaner pipes off. Its worth it!

You can buy inector line sockets if you need to, but a good open end wrench will do the trick. Some times those things will get seized on there pretty good but give it a shot! What do you have to loose?

I'm waiting for my lines to come in,and was just getting all my info and special tools in order, before I start the project. And I tried the wrench on all the lines at the pump and all came loose, and I then retightened em. I was able to loosen the the two front ones at the injectors as well but I was unable to access the rest without tearing down the air intake,I'll wait till I have all the parts.

Well I'm done it went very well, I've tackled way more difficult projects.I have not test drove it yet but it starts and runs with no leaks,so I guess it'll be OK.
