Looking for coolant filter adaptor head
Looking for coolant filter adaptor head
I am looking for a cheap coolant filter adaptor to plumb into my truck. I will not pay $100 for a "kit" that I can plumb myself. The hardest thing is finding a 11/16"-16 pitch filter adaptor. Someone told me he bought his at NAPA for around $20, but never returned to me with a part number, our local napa is helpless.
Does anyone have any sources?
Thanks

I found the part number, its a NAPA 4019, or cross ref. Mine I ordered from Carquest.
I wont be running the filters with the SCA in it, but rather just a coolant filter. I was talking to a guy at the Flying Hook this week, and he showed me his setup, and carried around an old filter to show people. He was running a 2nd Gen 12v, and it was the first filter. It had so much sand and grit in the filter that I couldnt believe it, he said after about the 3rd filter it seemed to clear up. Other than that, just to have one
I know most OTR trucks are running them for the SCA protection, but many non sleeve engines run them too, why not mine.
Picked up my Baldwin Filter today, B2314 $5.94

csramsey, do you have any pics of the setup? Or, where did you plumb the in and out of the coolant? Also where did you mount the filter mount? I've seen some nice setups in the junkyard on big trucks and figured one could mount one about anywhere under the hood of a 1st gen. I think I want to try one out, just wasn't sure of the plumbing. Thanks, and sorry for bringing up an oldie.

Any decent supplier should have these.
Coolant filter head:
Fleetguard #204163-S $20.90
Filter:
WIX #24070 (no SCA) think I paid around $6.00 for it.
I bought the hoses, valves and miscellaneous brass at Hose Man I got carried away $$$.

Sorry I just saw this too. I mounted the filter head to a piece of angle iron, then screwed it to the top of the fan shroud just to the left of the Alt. if looking from the front. The filter has to be lower than the top of the rad to work right, and that was about the only place I found. So I basically reach down between the tensioner and the RF headlight to remove the filter.
I ran the inlet line from the passage right above the thermostat on the cyd head, and the other, I got a 5/8" T from NAPA and plumbed it into the return line from the heater core.
Ill let you know what the 1st filter looks like.
Also I recommend either 2 shutoffs or any way that you can stop from loosing coolant when changing the filter.
