You could always pickup the RVers friend or similar book at a truck stop. It list's all kinds of good stuff!

You can use MSN Auto and do a search with the local zip codes for fuel prices.

Thanks guys. If I ever have time to put a site up, I'll see if I can put something together.

A good rule of thumb on the road is never let it get below 1/4 full. That way you have room for error when starting too look for fuel.

mestdagh, I suggest you go to a truckstop, go to the websites of any of these:
PETRO
PILOT
FLYING J
TA
LOVES

And check out their locations.

good advice, thanks. I'm not so worried about finding diesel when I'm driving the interstates (where the truckstops are), it's when I'm driving more rurally. For instance, central WY, central/southern NM, SE/SW Colorado. I'm sure there's diesel stations around but finding them in another story. Planning ahead seems to be the answer...

I've never had an issue finding diesel in and around NM and SW CO. It seems almost every corner store has diesel. Even in the really small towns, the ONE station generally carries it. I found diesel in the small town Ouray, CO last summer....and I'm glad because I wasn't sure if I could make it back over Red Mountain Pass with the amount of fuel I had

East of the mississippi is another story. I had a heck of a time finding diesel last summer after I passed the St. Louis Arch. It seemed the further east I drove the worse it got. I could find it along the highway but even then not all of the stations carried it.

Good luck and safe travels!

They finding diesel in Washington DC or most any other major city on the east coast. It sucks. I am just glad I decided to take my wifes TDi on that trip. We were on E for like 3 hours.
