A Lil Cummins Music

My lil bro Slade (user hellshavoc), who is working on in the Atchafalaya Basin coastline cleaning up the oil spill got a nice video of a tugboat with a big Cummins. Not sure of the series or output, but she sure sounds good. Id love to hear it under a full load.

Yall enjoy

Since I only see one exhaust in the engine room, I would guess that this is a Cummins KTA 1150 in line 6. 1150 cubes, depending on the set up could be 650hp or more.

There are some crew boats in the gulf area built at Gulf Craft in Patterson La in the mid 80's, that have 4 to 6 of these engines in a 145ft to 165ft crew boat. Four to Six times that noise. What a sound at 22 knots.

I be a lost Koon ***, them reals one's tell me.

Its got to be a KTA but it still amazes me how similar it is to a NTC. Them ole' Big Cam Cummins will talk to you with some strait pipes! I am still partial to some old school 2 stroke Detroit muscle in the boats.

Hey! We've got a KTA exactly like that in one of our emerg GenSets.. I always like to walk through the Gen Rm. and pat that one on the head.
Simplicity! PT fuel system...
Max of six seconds from power loss, to carrying full load! Never fails...
OMG that sucker is LOUD on startup.
I can't imagine enduring 4 of them in a steel engine room!

Those big Crew Boats are straight piped with a little water coming out. Standing back on the aft deck you can hear 4 turbos and the same sound as the tug 4 times as loud. At 22kts (sea trial max speed, Imagine a 145 crew boat blowing by a pleasure boat) its music.

M/V Paula McCall, Blair McCall, and a bunch of other ones
