Best that I can remember is somewhere between 2100 and 2600 depending on HP set up. Torque is up there. 1500+ftlbs depending on set up. Usually Tugs are set up for continuous duty at, let say 2100 rpm. That means they can run there all the time. The higher HP ratings are not continous duty ratings such as you might see in a speedy pleasure yacht.

Below is a sampling of hp and torque ratings for Oilfield stuff. This is the Common Rail Verion of the KTA 1150. QSK19 is the new name. That would be a big 4 Cylinder engine. Comes as a inline 6 also.

Specifications.
Engine Type In-Line, 4-Cycle, 6-Cylinder
Displacement 1153 cu in 19 liters
Advertised Horsepower 525-800 hp 392-597 kW
Peak Torque 1775-2275 lb-ft 2407-3084 N•m
Bore and Stroke 6.25 in x 6.25 in 159 mm x 159 mm
Aspiration Charge Air Cooled or Turbo Aftercooled
Oil System Capacity 80 U.S. qt 76 liters
Coolant Capacity 34 U.S. qt 32.2 liters
Length* 66.1 in 1679 mm
Width* 34.3 in 872 mm
Height* 64.3 in 1633 mm
Weight (wet)* 4,350 lb 1,973 kg

There are some crew boats in the gulf area built at Gulf Craft in Patterson La in the mid 80's, that have 4 to 6 of these engines in a 145ft to 165ft crew boat. Four to Six times that noise. What a sound at 22 knots.

I be a lost Koon ***, them reals one's tell me.

There's a Semi truck puller that I saw last weekend that had one of those, except the sticker on the side said 4000 hp!

I love a Cummins but it sure is hard to beat an old school Detroit with a strait pipe. I just cant decide if the V6 or V12s sounded better.

Man I remember that sound. Nothing smells better than a 71 in the morning!! My Cummins smells like a LPG Fork Lift or something.

That sounded like a 53 seris with all them hi revs.

Someone has built a Street Rod and used a 12V71 for the engine.

Here is a link to youtube for the Paula McCall. The first link is not that old as shes wearing someone else's colors. Just realized this is not the 145 footer. This is 190ft, renamed Paula McCall. Don't know what engines it has.

Edit; After seeing the newly named Paula McCall, I looked back and found out the original Paula McCall is now flagged in the Marshall Islands and is still in service, built in 1984. I was mistaken with the engine numbers. Its has five (5) KTA1150's. The US Flagged Paula McCall that is 190ft long is powered by five (5) KTA50-M2 Cummins Engines at 1800hp each. V-16's. 9000HP. The You Tube links below show it on Sea Trials. It's to bad the engines can't be heard on the Vids. Engine Data link;

That was actually a 6V92 in that video I linked. The 53s sounded sweet for sure! Lets see if I can find some 318 action here.

I see your performing a load bank test. During the last test I did before retiring we were required to take the unit (3516 Cat) up to 110% for a certain amount of time. Was this the case here also?

We took four(4) 3516's to 110% for 8 hours...
I got to see one of the first experimental C-175 Cat CRs get loaded to the hill at a testing facility near Peoria Il. years ago...
What an absolute beast..

that 149 is at 100% load for 2 hours. standby generators here is 100% to certify. but length of time depends on what the unit is in and powering. and also depends if its a commissioning or an annual.

The the 10 MTU's are 80 Liter engines each. with a total power output of 25 mega watts, not bad for a hospital standby. thats more than some of the smaller power stations on the grid.

You won't get an argument from me I put in two of them in for Data Center back up system which serviced a vast area of medical centers, quite impressive indeed!

153624

Equally impressive! In both areas the doctors don't take being disappointed very easy, even more so when they have someone on their O tables....
