Light Duty Diesels in the pipeline
Good, informative article on the new LD diesels headed our way:

('cept I thought the RAM 1500 would have a V-8?)

IIRC the Cummins press release about the engine they are making for Dodge said the V6 was for the SUV's and the V8 was going in to the 1500 so I think they got there info wrong for the article on the LD diesel trucks.

A few concerns... first off, these test are from 2005. This is forever ago in the world of emissions, no? The fuel mileage on the 1500 and Durango diesels are worse than 3/4 tons get. It's 22.1 combined for the Durango and 21.7 for the 1500. I don't see any reason these numbers can't and shouldn't be closer to 30.
Otherwise, I am very excited to see light diesels from 5 manufacturers.... should be about the time I need to buy a new vehicle maybe.
LIGHT-DUTY DIESELS IN THE PIPELINE
Ford: 4.4-liter turbocharged V-8 for F-150 and possibly Expedition in 2009
Dodge: 4.2-liter turbocharged V-6 for Ram 1500 in 2010
GM: 4.5-liter turbocharged V-8 for Silverado/Sierra pickups and Hummer H2 in 2010
Nissan: Iffy. May use V-6 or V-8 diesel in Titan pickup from International Truck and Engine Corp. around 2010.
Toyota: Iffy. Working with Isuzu to develop diesels. Diesel for Tundra might come from truck affiliate Hino in 2010, at the earliest.
