I wish I could use 5w30 diesel oil. My manual says to use only 15w40 or 5w40 or I will void the warranty.

I use WIX/NAPA filters exclusively. Yes, WIX makes Napa's filters. All except the tranny filters.

Oh yeah, FRAM doesn't have oil filters, they have oil filter shaped objects!

Oil Filter & Oil

After a lot of reading & research this is what I use:
- Fleetguard LF16035 oil filter
(https://www.dieselmanor.com/)
- Mobil Delvac 1 synthetic for diesel engines SAE 5W-40
(http://store.avlube.com/index.html)

Change oil every 15,000 miles, getting about 25 MPG on average.
145,000 miles, running strong!
I just buy online. No problem getting it delivered.

I have run mostly Wix filters as I don't get to Tulsa nearest cummins dealer more than 1-2 a yr, and am not a internet shopper. Oil filter#51607, But I just this week found a Wix filter that they call high effeincy part#57620XE it is supposed to be the fleetguard stratpore equal. Listed as a 3rd gen fluted filter. don't know the price.

I run the Fleetguard stratapore oil filter, changed every 5000 miles, fleetguard fuel filters, changed every other oil change or 10,000 miles and running Schaeffers 15W-40 Moly Bond oil. Sure I probably could run longer intervals......but I just can't be convinced it's Ok

I pick up my filters at the local Cummins place or in Nashville when I go buy there shop. Usually can get two oil filters, two fuel filters for around $40, not to bad for peace of mind.

For air filters....one of these will do..... Currently running the WIX filter

Wix makes the Napa Gold filters. One of my instructors was a quality control man at Fleetguard in Cookeville, and he told me that they would make filters for Baldwin, Luberfiner, and a couple of others.

I run wix oil filter with synthetic oil. Been running wix for 123k and been running the synthetic for 8k or so. Used to run rotella and had no issues with it.

Does it really say in the owners manual or else where that you will void the warranty if you don't use 15w40 or 5w40 oil?

You could use 5w30 HDD if you wanted too. If you were to pour the 5w30 into a jug with 5w40 lable on the out side they wouldn't know the difference unless you told them. Also I would think the Amsoil 5w30 HDD will hold up a lot better then Rotella's 5w40 synthetic oil.

JMHO.

Yeah it says use only 15w40 or 5w40. I have a 2004 model though. Must have changed for 2006.
