Jeep Liberty
I haven't seen one one the road yet, and I've been looking!?! Where are they? Thought they were supposed to have been out already. The wife is convinced she needs one, now thats she's seen the light w/ regards to the economy and life expectancy of a diesel. Maybe this weekend I'll have to drive down to the dealer, just to look! I just really dispise car salesmen in general... -Steve

Mine's dying to try one out too, none around here yet though. She even has kind of mumbled "ok" under her breath when I start talking about straight piping it.

The article says they don't really have any exterior notations of being diesel.

The diesel is a 2.8-liter four-cylinder common-rail made in Italy by VM Motori, an offshoot of DC.
I have a work supplied 3.7, really gets up and goes but seems like it should get better than the 18 mpgs I get. My biggest complaint with the Liberty is that windshield seems to be a rock magnet, four windshields in two years. Guy at the glass shop says they come in all the time and that it must have something to do with the aerodynamics. Other than that it's been a good rig.

You can get the gassers with either a 4 (2.4L) or 6 (3.7L), the 4 cylinders are gutless.
