Isuzu NRR diesel

Just purchased one of these for a delivery truck. It's a 1990 with 36000 miles. It has a non turbo 6 banger 5 speed tranny in it. After a 70 mile drive it seemed to get hotter than I like it to according to the temp. gauge. I know it's probably not accurate but it's the only thing I got until I can get a pyro gauge hooked up. Anyone know where to hook a pyro gauge on these? Also shifts pretty ruff. Any advice on these diesel engines would be great. Wish I could throw a cummins into it.

Probably a great engine if it has been well maintained. A friend has the Nissan version which is very similar in a cabover Nissan UD truck and it is just awesome and tons of power...
