General Diesel Discussion Talk about general diesel engines (theory, etc.) If it's about diesel, and it doesn't fit anywhere else, then put it right in here.

If they build a crew cab, the numbers will jump. I can guarantee it.

The truck is improved, the auto is improved, the engine is now the most powerful in its class. If they build that crew cab, what else is there to want?

"John Deere produces diesel engines for light and heavy equipment. The company could produce a six-cylinder diesel for a light-duty truck, says company spokesman Ken Golde"

Didn't GM try to get John Deere to make a diesel for them before the Duramax? The deal fell thorugh when JD couldn't make an engine light enough.

I'd buy a Deere powered truck, though. I've thought for years that if someone could get a Deere into a truck they'd have an instant money maker.

I work for John Deere but don't worrie I don't really like them. I have been an IH man all my life. only the smaller JD engines are built in outside the states. I just don't like the engines JD does build. Or the plastic tractors they build either.

HELL-O!! IS ANYONE AT DC LISTENING??????????

Now if only they adapted a B3.9 for the 1500 series and jeeps and stuff, they would have a REAL winner.

I wanted to add:

What do the sales numbers of diesel pickups tell us? They tell us the the US is FINALLY ready to give the diesel another chance.

Heck, they should offer a small diesel across the line. An additional 40% mpg while still having some torqye to get moving has to appeal to a buyer.

I know all to well about the plastic tractors that JD builds. My father owns one. Basically, every piece of plastic on it is broke due to vibration.
