Injector Pop Tester

Have any of you built a Pop Tester?

I made one but can't find a grease gun that is tight enough to pump diesel. The new grease gun that I bought leaks by real bad. So I tried a few of my old grease guns. One of them will make and hold 3000 psi but it leaks in another spot.

Any ideas about what I can use for a pump?

Thanks,
JP.

Hydraulic ram set pump for autobody or Princess Auto used to sell a hydraulic hand pump with a built in reservoir that held about 2 liters.

I bought a real one , then you also need a calibrated fluid & a high pressure gauge .
To make your own , I would think that you would have to use a hydraulic pump .

you can find actual pop testers fairly cheap on ebay. My buddy got a otc one and we just use regular diesel fuel in it.

Thanks for the help guys.

I got lucky this morning. The nearest Princess is an hour away so I went to the local farm supplier to see what they had. In the hydraulics recycle pile I found a Enerpak hand pump that the cylinder was no good on. $65 later I brought it home and bingo, the pump works great, no leaks, no problems. It is rated 10,000 psi. It works way better than a grease gun because it holds the pressure until you release it with the valve that would normally let the jack down.

In fact, the set up I made is way heavier duty and works better than the factory made tester that my neighbour has.

Thanks again,
JP.
