Here your only choices are 1st gen, 2nd gen, or 3rd gen Dodge CTD's. You'll be happy with any of them.

Well, I'm going to want to make it fast, but nothing crazy, just like high 13s. Thats why I was thinking F-250. I'm scared to buy a 6.0 though. And, can someone please explain the flames, thats pretty sad.

I don't know how knew you're looking for, but the 94-98.4's are hard to beat.

Thats why you should be scared to buy a 6.4 =P

A guy at work has a 7.3 with a superchips and its pretty quick. Quicker than any of the gassers he lined up with.

The 12 valve cummins is hard to beat as far as reliability goes. But a Common rail ('03+) cummins can make some huge gains with just a programmer and a few supporting mods.

Ehh it just seems like the 6.0 are easy to be really fast, with the five speed auto and all.

The 6.0 are hard to modify mechanically. You can get programmers and injectors for them, but turbos are hard to find. You can forget about twins unless you have a ton of money and a good fab shop. If you really want reliability, good mileage and easy power making ability go with a Cummins. Fords aren't reliable with their 6.0's. Chevy/GMC's are cars with 8 lugs. Real trucks have 6 cylinders and two solid axles (no offense 2wd guys). Not starting a brand war. This is my opinion. Keep reading this site for awhile. You'll come around.

The 7.3 is a pretty good motor. The Duramax isn't bad either. It's just when it comes to the ease of modifying or even working on the motor itself you can't beat the Cummins.

Absolutely, listen to Tboe.I know so many guys with diesel trucks, all types and years.12v cummins 2nd gen is the most reliable motor in my opinion.7.3 isnt bad.If youre thinking in the direction of the 6.0 then you obviously havnt done any research at all. They are easily the biggest diesel disaster in recent years....until now of course with the 6.4.All kidding and bashing aside, the 7.3 is a great motor,Ive driven several, the duramax is good(the new ones). The chev is a weak truck however.Everyone knows that the 6.0 can make 450 hp or whatever with tuner. But thats about the end of your practical power adding.Injectors are outrageously priced.Turbos are never cheap .Not to mention that the motor cant even keep itself together stock. If you dont like getting your hands dirty and you like to plug and play, buy a cr dodge. If you like to work on stuff yourself, buy a 12v.The ISB is a good truck too, just gotta keep an eye on fuel pressure. If you want just a fast truck, then a duramax is easy to get power out of.We had a brand new dmax as a crew truck for the winter,I was not impressed in the least.Just do some long research on all the diesel sites and look up the posts where some guy is telling a story about how hes getting his motor back from the shop soon.I dont hear any on here.On the ford and chev sites I see em on there all the time.

Oh trust me, I know the 6.0s are known for being unrelaible. I just herd that the ctds were the slowest out of the group. I drove a 2002 2500 with the 24v engine a while ago. It was stock with 100k on it, now, highway wise, it was pretty slow. My 4Runner could take it from like 60-100. But, i hammerd it at a stop light and man, that was amazing, soooo much torque. It was auto, and it seems if i want fast thats the way to go. Ive always liked the rams better than anything else looks wise too, thats why this is so hard. I suppose a 24V with an auto would be the best for me. Arent the stock autos kinda crappy after you mod it? Hypothetically, how much would i have to spend to get the truck in the low 14s? (if i had a 24v)
