If Everything Were Flawless...

Sitting here reading post after post you hear guys suggesting that one brand is superior over the other but in reality no one and nothing is perfect. Although, as far as I'm concerned, there may be a definitive live between an Inline motor and a V motor but I can't help but wunder... What IF all vehicles were flawless... What if, in a perfect world, nothing went wrong and nothing blew up... What brand of vehicle would reign superior... The Ford Powerstroke, The Chevy Duramax or The Dodge Cummins?

Keep in mind this is just a theoretical idea and should not be taken to heart. I'm just interested to see, with the all problems aside, what everyone would do. Just try and keep it simple folks

With brand loyalty aside I think I'd still stick with my Dodge. Cab comfort suits me and that low end torque always makes me come back for more... Yup, I'm hooked...

You mean my first gen has flaws? It's not a leaky cab, it's a factory installed automatic floor washing device(when it rains). Seriously, I'd keep my Cummins. I'd keep it because of the intended purpose of the little B series. It was designed to be tough (cast iron) simple (I6) econmical and diverse. It's just as at home in a Case farm tractor pulling row crop duty as it is in an F-650 pulling 20k over Vail Pass in Colorado. It can be as docile as my little 400k first gen or as wild as these pulling trucks leaving the line @6000 rpms and over 80psi. That doesn't make it better or worse than any of the other light truck competition, it's just what I like about it. One tool that can be used in many different ways is worth investing in, IMO.

Well, a perfect world would feature an approximately 400 CI (yes, CUBIC INCH) V-8 Diesel, preferrably made by Cummins, in a 2006 AMC Gremlin.

But if I had an option to get a brand new truck right off the lot with a "perfect" warranty, I would get a Dodge regular cab dually. Just something to run up and down the freeways at 90 miles per hour with. The Duramaxes are great at that, but they haven't managed to sway me yet.

If I had a choice of any truck that actually exists though, I would go with a 98 P-pumper. But who wouldn't, right?

But I would rather just have the money that it would take to buy a new truck to put into The Incubator.

You said perfect so I had to say Ford , because I worked at the Lorain plant and receave a nice discount on a Ford truck . Since I do not plan on seeing perfect until I meet my maker I plan on driving Dodge for a long time and also since Ford seems to be going farther away from perfect right now . I did test drive a Ford before I bought the Dodge , the salesmen was a real jerk , he would only let me drive it around the block once and then expected me to write it up . Dodge gave me the keys and said have a long drive and bought my lunch when I got back and then asked if I was interested . Maybe the Ford guy was worried about how far he would need to walk back .

Perfect is a usless term. Nothing can ever bee perfect but if they were FORD. But where would bee the fun if everything were flawless, we need competition.

i don't think there is any way to accurately answer that question. a perfect world would not include general motors. i've never had a bad experience with ford, but apparently the statistics are not in one's favor if they make that choice. love my 3rd gen dodge cummins so, i guess my answer is, duh!

what i like:

cab is nice and wide, tons of room up front. quad cab longbed is ideal configuration for me because there is enough room in the backseat but the wheelbase doesn't compromise parking the truck and it can still haul nearly anything. power is virtually limitless, only as deep as my pocketbook. interior seems to be of pretty good quality and the power drivers seat is nice. not everyone will agree here but i need a lot of lumbar support. truck is nice to drive for long periods of time. able to clear large tires with no lift. engine is easy to access and work on. ride and handling are impressive for such a stiffly sprung and large truck. manual transfer case, solid axle and 8' bed like god intended. also the manual transfer case is one less thing to break, electronic 4wd is nothing but trouble. imo the 03-05 trucks are the best looking trucks on the road and mine turns heads wherever it goes. everytime i see a serious hotshotter, you know what he's driving? hint: i say "nice rig" on the CB. nearing 25,000 miles, 99.5% satisfied with the truck and planning on keeping it for a loooooong time.

what i don't (or didn't) like:

had seriously misdiagnosed oil leaks which eventually lead to the entire block being replaced. this is a rare occurence but is not apparently the first time it has happened. door and dash had a few rattles but i learned quickly you're on your own fixing things like that. other than that it has been smooth sailing.

My Dodge feels like I am driving a big comfortable couch around. I am 6'7'' tall, and weigh in at 270lbs. The other brands just didn't have the comfort levels that my truck has. Sad part is, my half ton 1996 1500 dodge still seemed to have more room, and felt more comfortable for my size. Thank God for the up and down motion of the automatic seats in this truck, cause it really didn't go back far enough for me. However if it went back any further, my 7 year old wouldn't even fit behind me. I need a Mega-cab maybe...

Stick with what works

I like my truck Lotsa power, and has just about anything i could need or use. Most ppl dont like the interiors of 96 12V trucks, but mine suffices just fine, simple to use controls, easy to identify, and i like the gauges as well.... Body on the other hand, well needs to be stronger, and my next mod going in soon enough.. Ram 3500 springs, (if they are a direct bolt on....)

Tx

Tough one! Chebby is eliminated right away. Its a toss up between Ferd & Dodge. I've never owned a Ford so the Dodge Bros. win by default

If they were all perfect then why would it matter?? They would all be equal.

Does anyone really think that the outcome of this poll is going to do anything except for declare Dodge as the winner. After all, this is a Dodge website.

Besides, the PERFECT option isn't even listed....Ford w/Cummins.
