1500 doesnt need that big inline 6. 1500 should hav a 4b in it u can make great power out of those little motors
y would u want that 1500lb inline 6 motor in that truck after u will ***** that the front end wears out to fast

1500
i respectfully disagree. my 1/2 ton started carrying the 5.9 with120k on the clock. been driving it daily for 6 years. granted only about 30k with 5.9 wheels havent fallen off yet.

i would fear the rear diff dieing quickly with much torque on tap.
Not a Dodge fan anyway. Just a Cummins fan.
Been looking at 1/2 ton GM's lately in the previous body style. Gotta have something that will turn 200-300 thousand miles without much fuss. I drive 40-50 thousand miles a year. I should get 20 MPG on the interstate with a GM 1/2 ton.

good luck on a gm trans lasting that long. i am using the dodge 9.25 rear that everyone said wouldnt stand up. been to the strip several times with 9 in. slicks so far so good. it had over 100k on it when i installed it. only problem i see with dodge 1/2 ton behind the 5.9 would be if one started towing heavy.

jughead's 1/2 ton
You are somebody I would like a clarification from. Do I understand that you have a 5.9 6 b t Cummins in a 1500 Ram? Is it a 4x4? Please show some pictures. I have heard this could not or should not be done, but if you done it, it's done ain't it? If pics are available great and some how it got done would be sweet.
Thanks,
Steve

6.7 is 350hp, truck weighs say 7,500lbs = 21 lbs per 1 HP
5.0 V-8, same hp, 1500 weighs 5,000lbs = 14lbs per 1 HP
which one would win? yes you might not hop it up as much or add as much power as a iron block, iron cylinder head motor, but again, with less weight, the smaller power adders will seem like more, again due to the power to weight ratio. You don't see dragsters with iron motors, and frames, less weight, more power.
I'd easily take a v-8 cummins with 350 hp, over the 1100lb 6.7 l with the same.
Whoever made the comment on the front end, that was great
