Hmmm
send him here, to read about new dodges, and send him to the Diesel stop to read about recalls, reflashes and how many guys are head over heels in love with a truck that is more problems than hed care for..
That would do it for me..

Let him know he will be buying a dead engine 6.0L PowerStroke is going away. It appears to have been a design that was huried to meet the emissions crud. A very short lived life cycle for a diesel it seems.

Considering FORD?
It shouldn't be too hard a decision - I have driven Fords pretty loyally for 30 years or so - with a few Dodges thrown in, when I got a better deal on one. Last month, I looked at the Ford CC's - they quoted me a $53,000 truck and offered to discount it $5500! They also offered $1500 less than wholesale for my trade! I went to the local Dodge dealer - he said $40,800 for a similarly equipped Dodge, then take $8000 discount off, but his computer was broke so he couldn't sell one or appraise my trade. THis went on for two days, so I went to another nearby Dodge dealer (50 miles away) and he had the same story - $40,800 for an SLT 4X4 6 speed short bed CTD, at that time, employee priced, right at $8000 off, and 2.9% for 5 years, or another $1500 off, and he gave me $1500 more than wholesale for my trade (he washed it before he appraised it, and while we were talking inside the showroom, he already had customers looking at my truck! Incidentally, he also sells Fords, and told me the priviledge of driving a Ford is about $7500 or more above the price of driving a Dodge. Another funny thing - I usually take a beating when I trade a Ford, but when I traded my 99 Dodge 3500 CTD 4X4 SLT (last one I had) it was a year old, had 98,000 miles on it, and I got exactly what I paid for it back out of it! I admit that doesn't happen too often, but I think I am going to be a lot more loyal to Daimler C now.

Just let him cruise the forums for all diesels. I originally looked at the 95-97(I had been told that these were the best trucks that ford made)7.3 PSD and the cummins. After driving one dodge I knew what to get.
Let him see how much work are being done to the fords, I haven't heard of anyone I know complaining about their cummins, but the people I know with the last year of the 7.3L are getting sick of them.
Finally, let him drive one. I expected all trucks to drive like a ford since that was what I was used to, but once I got into a dodge and took the first turn I realized that dodge was the truck (if there is one thing I can't stand about a truck its one that has the turning radius of a school bus...)
Thats just me, you could let him get a ford but then you might get soar ear from listening to his complaints.

My girlfriends aunt has an '04 F350 and it takes a 40 acre field to turn that thing around. She falls off the edge of her driveway everytimes she pulls in, but not me. Oh yeah her truck is at the local Ford dealership right now with the motor out of it, because of a recall. This is the 3rd CTD I've had the privilege of driving and I wouldn't trade it for 3 strokers.
