"ll share with you MY real world experience with exactly what you are asking. If you look in my signature you will see I own a 2001 Dodge Cummins 2500 4x4 six speed 3.55 gears. I put 185,000 on the 99 7.3 PSD six speed 3.73 gears and now have a 2003 6.0 f350 4x4 six speed 3.73 gears which I now have 92,000 miles on. I tow about the same weights with all three. The 6.0 has nowhere, nowhere, nowhere near the low end grunt of the 7.3 and is even further from the 5.9. With the six horses behind the Cummins launching in second gear even on moderate uphills requires nothing more than letting out the clutch and then feeding in some fuel. Given the same load and conditions with the 6.0 requires using low range and first or second gear to get the load moving or alot of clutch slipping which I refuse to do.The 6.0 has a ton of power above 2000 r.p.m but it won't pull toilet paper out of you *** below 1800 r.p.m. As I said this isn't friend of a friend info this is personal experience and a ton of it."
And he isn't even comparing it to a 3rd gen Cummins.

I didn't get to the part where any of them said the 6.0 was good for anything?
Oh, well.
I like to hear that a Cummins is right for the job. I have to think that once you've owned one, there is not much sense in looking any further (when it comes to towing).
I had mine loaded light at aprox. 8400lbs yesterday, not to be too cliché, but I could barley even tell it was back there.
Nice Sunday drive!

Qoute>I have an 05 6oh and I have to beat it like a step child to pull my 10K lb car hauler enclosed trailer. A serious work truck needs to be a Cummins . I just hate Dodge's crappy wrapper. I chose the weaker engine but the better overall truck, looks, features, paint etc.. I will also not own it out of warranty

that is just.... unreal..... but realistic in their engine views...
Someone on here once said, Cummins is the only medium duty truck engine found in a pickup, i guess for his needs thats what suffices..
