You gotta say one thing about Ford guys, they are LOYAL. Almost as bad as John Deere guys.

I swear I could sell toilet paper for $5 a roll if it was John Deere green.

actually I have been watching that since the 6.0 came out and it would appear that most of the problems are now behind them. At least the frequency of people posting that have severe failures have gone down.

In the AG world...I don't know if JD picked it up a notch or CAT just fell short. Around here, I have several big customers (10,000 acres+) who tried Cat equipt. and feel it's not quite up to JD...yet!

Agree about Ford loyalty...you have to admire it...misguided or not!
I have lived all over this country...north & south...and never got too much into the Ford vs Chevy...John Deer vs all others...North vs South...etc. But around here it's mind boggling how strong the feelings sometimes are.
Finally figured out, in business, how to handle the "your not from around here, are you?"
Answer - "I guess you'd call me a Yankee!" "You know what the definition of a Yankee is? It's the same as a Quickie...only you can do it by yourself!" That breaks the ice...in most cases.

If they're riding shotgun with the tow truck driver that statement would be true.

I've wondered the same thing. Ford just bought back the second 6.0 from my brother. Both of them were pieces of junk. Well guess what he's replacing them with? Well, you know.....

I think he's insane. After my Ford experience, I will never go back.

Around here we have the same "problem. Town council was on side with the idea of a new fire truck. Rural council wouldn't even consider it. One of the firefighters (no names ) suggested that if we were to order our fire trucks in JD green with yellow stripes we could probably get a new one every 2 years.

It's the "mom, apple pie, baseball, Ford truck" thing. It's what we grew up with. The Ford F-100 was a big hit with it's twin I-beam supension, inline six engine and easy on the eyes appearance. It became a symbol of American trucks. Dodges were for the most part ugly. Tough as nails and the slant six was bullet proof but it just didn't catch on. Chrysler made some ugly vehicles. They made some bad to the bone muscle cars but popular family cars were ugly. Ford's Fairlane and Chevy's BellAire were beautiful cars. This unpopular Dodge/Chrysler and very popular Ford and Chevy image has lasted the test of time.
Most people follow this and don't know squat about what's under the hood. If they're on their forth 6.0 Pile o' SD, in their minds, Dodge's must be worse. Their Ford is every bit as personal as their sir name. It can't be bad. That would be a personal insult.
Those of us with an open mind and the ability to learn from our mistakes will try something different. I did in '94 and haven't regretted it one bit. I didn't realize how much I would like the Dodge until I owned one. Oddly enough, my respect for the Ford 300 I-6 gas engine was a big factor in my decision to go with the big inline six Cummins in the Dodge rather than take a chance with the gas engine looking V8 diesel in the Ford.
I remember our neighbor's sky blue Dodge truck in the '60s. Man that truck was ugly... They've come a long way...
