how to unstick a fuel rack
I am workin on a 4 cylinder diesel with an inline injection pump, alot like our P7100 pumps, at school and i am thinking the fuel rack is stuck in the no fuel position. I am getting lots of fuel to the bottom of the delievery valves but they are not geeting pushed up to send the fuel to the injectors. whats the easiest why to make sure the rack isn't stuck

If it is a Bosch pump there should be a plug on the front of the pump. It will have a hex head on it and be more like a cap with a copper washer on it. Remove this plug and that will give you access to the forward end of the rack. There should be a tiny threaded hole in the end of the rack. I have no clue what the thread size is but I used a piece of a RC threaded control rod to screw into it. Find something that fits and screw it in there. Once in, you should be able to pull the rack by hand now. If not, this confirms your theory of the rack being stuck in the "no fuel" position. Keep in mind, this is on Bosch pumps which is the only ones that I worked on.
