A flatbed isn't so different than a full bed is it... weight-wise?

A regular cab SRW 1st gen truck weighs about 5700. All those modern features add a lot of weight.

Mine about 7050 lbs. Me, my truck and 7/8's tank of fuel. The funny thing is that when I got my permit I didn't look to see how much weight they put on it. When I got home I looked at it and noticed it was at 2300 Kg ( 5060 Lbs.). I knew the truck was more than that so off I went to the DOT scale and weighed her. I asked the officer the weight and he said 3200. I said " How much" , he paused and said 3200 ( Kg's). I quickly waved thank-you and was out of there. 3200 kg's = 7040 lbs. 1 ton over weight before I start. Good thing all it hauls is my butt!

It really amazes me how much more the 3rd gens weigh than the 2nd gens. To me they don't "look" that much heavier, but put them on the scales...and wow. I think my truck needs to go on a diet (kinda like me ) .
