Hot Shot hauling
My dad has been outa the game for awhile but now the company he used to do it for somehow messed up a trailer for FED EX so it looks like he’s back in the ring. Anyone know how much people are getting per mile these days? He used to get 2.00 a mile but with fuel going through the roof of the first floor (im sure the second and third are on the way any) he doesn’t know what to charge.

Don't really understand just what you're asking but this may help with figuring rates . http://ooida.com/Swimming_sharks/MAR...arge%20kit.htm

It depends what you are hauling . Most hotshotters won't pull a load for less than $2.50 a mile . Customers that have an urgent need to get something moved will pay $4 a mile or more . Brokers are ripping haulers off by keeping the fuel surcharge . Auto transporters are complaining rates on vehicles are staying under $.60 a mile . You need a spreadsheet to figure your costs , set a rate to allow a reasonable profit , and stick with it . Reliable carriers with good reputations are demanding reasonable rates and staying busy .
