Heard my first Ford 6.0

I finally got to hear a 6.0 idle today. I swear it sounded like two toddlers under the hood shaking raddlers. Hope they sound better with and exhaust system on them.

Re:Heard my first Ford 6.0

I listened to my neighbor's 6.0L once. It sounded like this:

SSSSSSSSSSHHH - *crunch**clank**clank* - KABOOM - drip drip.

692 miles. :

Re:Heard my first Ford 6.0

I heard one while back when they first came out and I just laughed cause it didnt sound like it had any power what so ever it sounded like little pebbles being tossed against some tin. Nothing like the 7.3L....Then when it took off.. :-X..I rolled up my winder and just punched. (of course blowing smoke al over him) ;D

I have heard several 6.0 so far, and it's nasty sounding...
I don't know how the owners can put up with that.

Re:Heard my first Ford 6.0

Ive ridden in my buddies 6.0 many times. To me, it sounds like every valve in the motor is ticking. Ticking in a bad way, like they all need to be adjusted. Other than that, the truck pulled very nicely and had lots of power.
But, his has been in and out of the shop for oil leaks. 4 times..

I think the 6L PSD sounds fine except when your starting it. It sounds like marbles and bouncing around in the motor.

Re:Heard my first Ford 6.0

I've heard several and they all sound like they're ready to sieze up. Seems by reading there's some serious bugs too. The 7.3's were great motors.

Re:Heard my first Ford 6.0

Had a beautiful 350 dually slide in beside me yesterday at the hardware store. It was waxed with great TLC, nice two tone paint, nice boards - - very nice looking truck. He left it idling and came over to talk about my truck. I asked how he liked the new engine. He said he was very happy with it. It sounded very nice - - very quiet, solid sounding. I asked how many miles on it - - he said in 40 miles he turns 100,000. I was floored. Only then did I look at the truck closer and realize it was not a new one - - it was a 2000. I have never heard a 7.3 that quiet and organized. He hauls cars with it - -I was amazed how quiet and clean it was for a 2000 with that many miles. He had only recently purchased the truck - - he said that was why he answered my question about the "new" engine the way he did - - it was new to him.

Re:Heard my first Ford 6.0

My friend had bought a 6.0L when they were first out, It was in the shop about every other week until Ford finally bought it back. They (ford) wanted to give him a new one and he said no way.... He's driven a new dodge now. ( The tranny had problems 3 times then the engine locked up)
