Loved your story!

Best part is he never got a look at you.

...I'm kind of with Dr. Diesel, on this one. In todays world...the potential legal problems of your actions are hugh! It's nice that the cops covered for you and that it did not go to court!

I say that because...Wal Mart parking lots all have SURVEILLANCE CAMERAS....around here anyway!

Dr Diesel said exactly what I was thinking. Please be careful and keep your eyes open. Some people like this may go after the ones you love instead of facing you. I would be in jail then because it would end right there the next time I saw him. Be safe.

Yes, be careful. There was a thread a week or so ago from a guy around Fort Worth that got his trucked burned up by people retaliating.

how about some hydrochloric acid for the fake tank........ might end up dead from siphoning that though.....
i was thinking the same if i had trouble with people stealing fuel. as long as you put a whmis sticker behind the fuel door correctly labeling what was in the tank, you are clear and the theif won't be stealing anymore fuel...

I have to agree completely with all the points brought up.

I could have stood there and waited for the cops to show up. I would have had a 50/50 chance of them getting there in time to catch the guy during the act. That's if it was something they would have even bothered to show up for.

I could have hammered the guy and drove off, leaving him lying there. The way most people in our society are, they would have ignored the guy laying there because of the "I don't want to get involved" mentality.

I could have even taken the wimp route and and just waited until he was finished doing what he was doing and then called the cops and hoped for the best.

BUT, The dude was messing with my truck which puts the food on my table and the clothes on my back. Wouldn't have mattered if it was the Pope or the Queen of England, you mess with my livelyhood, I'll take my chances with the courts or retribution or revenge or whatever.

I realize that what I did "might" have been wrong, but I'm not to concerned about what might happen down the road. Life is way to short to walk around looking behind me all the time. I decided to play, time will tell if I pay.

Please don't get me wrong, I'm not some kind of fruitloop that just goes around thumping people for something to do. Like every single person on this board, I work way to hard to have the things I do. Someone thinks they can get it the easy way, not if I can help it!

Jeff

I seriously doubt if the Queens Cowboys would have showed up anyway. The siphoner got what he deserved and the punishment was far better than any court could impose, IMHO.

I'll bet every time he smells diesel fuel from now on he'll be looking over his shoulder.

I don't believe anyone is thinking that, we are just saying be on the lookout for retaliation both for you and your family. I applaud you for doing that and firmly believe if more of that were done, there would be less of what he was doing in the first place. The justice system has made the criminal out to be the good guy and the one trying to protect his own property the bad guy. There is definately something wrong with this picture in that case.

I agree 100%, I was a police officer for 4 years back in the early 80's and have worked in the public school system for the past 21 years. We as americans have one of the best legal systems in the world. Big business, lawyers and politicians have screwed up what our fore fathers enacted as one of the greatest systems in history.

I just wanna' know... Where exactly is that sweet spot behind a dudes head that involuntary triggers that diesel swallowing response?

I loved your story... Makes me feel good that he didn't get away without several "reminders" of his theft.

I was talking about this with a paramedic buddy of mine...he said that after the culprit went to the hospital, things would have just got uglier than the beating. He probably had a long, unpleasant night.

I was telling my dad about this after talking about effects of these absurd fuel prices, but I realized when telling him that you took the wrong action. Being his truck was parked right next to yours you should have pushed his head into HIS truck, not yours!
