Good Diesel Shop in Lubbock, TX

I just moved to Lubbock (girlfriend just started law school at TTU), and I am looking for a good diesel shop in the area. I haven't noticed too many people on here from Lubbock, but surely someone on here knows the area. I quit my job to move up here, so if anyone knows of anything in or around Lubbock, please let me know. I have a business degree and production supervisor experience. Admins, please move this post if it isn't in the right place.

There's a guy up north of you between Abernathy and Hale Center that works on Cummins,..mostly the Case/IH skid motors. He's on the West side of I 27 and its a red metal shop with Irrigation motors piled out in front.
I can't tell you the name, or even if it has a name. The dude that does the motor work recognized the sound of my Ford as I pulled up to the barn. He then took me around back and showed me a 4bt conversion that he did. Cool guy and seened to know his stuff on motors but I can't remember him name.

Anyhow,...

I've lived here forever if you find one that knows more than general maintenance on a cummins let me know. I've looked off and on for awhile to find one that knows more about performance than just working on them and haven't had much luck. Some else more than welcome to chime in.

Hey guys, Im here in lubbock. I drove a 24v for 18 months then got me a Duramax. Im looking for someone who can work on allisons also. I really dont know of anyone around here that KNOWS their stuff.

I will recommend a shop that WILL treat you right though. G & R automotive. They are at 51st right past I-27. Back when I had the Dodge I thought the almighty vp44 was going out and thats who my current boss recomended. They absolutely would not fix anything until they knew what exactly was wrong. They had my truck for a month, fixed nothing, and charged me $0. Yes FREE. I drove it a Diesel mechanic in Abilene and on the way I ran out the bad diesel that was causing this whole thing, and I never missed another beat.

They didnt know the diesel was bad but they were honest enough not the put a APPS on, charge parts and labor, then a VP cause the apps didnt work, more parts and labor, etc. They are a great group to work with.

Hope this helps and let me know if you know of a good allison/tranny guy around here.

Jamie
