Is This A Good Deal?

At my new job they are selling a 2000 Ford F450 Crewcab dually with the 7.3L powerstroke diesel. The truck is immaculate. It has a 10' utility body, but they are selling it without it. They want $16,000 for it. Is it worth that much?

Whoops, I forgot it has approx 100k miles on the odometer.

I wouldn't drive a Ford if you gave it to me. Just my thought.

Well maybe if they gave it to you AND paid for all of the fuel.

Auto or manual? if automatic its too much money I think, cause that trans. is going to be beat, but if manual might be ok, see what kind of service it's had, should have had oil changed every 5000 miles, fuel filter every 10k with an injector cleaner, and make darn sure it has nitrate additive in cooling system for cavitation erosion protection of cylinders. Other than that you might check autotrader and see what they are going for

From here it sounds like an ok deal, if you like fords, but I don't know much about that particular truck other than what you said.
Dumb question, Why are you asking that question on a Dodge Cummins site???

$16k doesn't sound to awful bad. I'd see if they'd go a little lower for not having a bed/body on it, or if it's only 2wd.

Check out www.kbb.com www.nadaguides.com or www.edmunds.com to help get a better idea on worth.

As was said before, make sure the SCA's were kept up.

If it is still on the original, I'd keep a cam position sensor (CPS) handy. Could be about due. Some engines are prone to "eating" (electrical glitch, not mechanical) them. Other, may have only replaced one or two in 200k. Luck of the draw.

How well does it start cold?

Because I don't want to have to join a Ford-specific site just to ask one question. Plus I figure Dodge owners won't tell me it's the best thing since sliced bread like a Ford fanatic would. It is a 2wd, 6-speed manual. I like it because the cab is enormous and it is capable of hauling a lot. I figure if the motor blows up, I'll transplant a Cummins into it. 8.2 or 5.9.

$16K sounds like a lot of $$$ to me for a 5 year old, commercially used chassis-cab truck.

Sounds kinda pricey to me as well, that 7.3 is a pretty good engine though. I would rather have one of those than a 6.0 junker.
